January was a pretty slow on the photography front, but this was by choice.

I decided that I’d focus the month of January on the “business” side of the studio. I’ve got a plan for this year and a flexible business plan for the next few years., so I’m pretty pleased with that.

The month of February is going to be an interesting experiment, every photo that I take and display on the blog in February will be black & white, that’s right I’m kicking it old school, going back to my roots.

The new year is upon us and if it is like the last it’ll be over before you you know it.

A few goals for this year are:

- Add to the catalog and take some great photos.

- Host and possibly sell other artists work. I think that if someone has a passion for something they do and want to share it they should be able to, I also realize that to some the prospect of building and maintaining a website is a little too much for them.

- Build my portfolio with different jobs (i.e. non traditional portraits). A primary goal for me is to branch out and take photos of people, but I don’t want to take plain old portraits, I want to capture a memory for them, be it a favorite place or favorite thing, the possibilities are endless. I want to take a photo that five to ten years down the road the person looks at it and it brings back a pleasant memory and a smile remembering that time.

New for December:

PORTFOLIO - This should actually be labeled 200 of my favorite photos at this moment. Going through all of my photos I quickly discovered that I can’t upload my entire library so I decided I’d pick 200 of them and then start to rotate them out occasionally. They are in no particular order and when you are done viewing all you have to do is hit the back button on your browser to come back to the studio.

Hard to believe that it is November already and it is poised to bring some more changes like the previous six months have. If you’ve been here before you notice that I’ve changed a few things and in addition to moving both black & white and color photos into the section simply called photography I have brought my web design business into the realm of Chris Miller Studios.

Web design is something that I’ve done since 2000 and unfortunately since I did a lot of the work in the military or for another company I can’t use that work in my solo portfolio so I’ll be slowly populating it. In addition to bulking up the web design side of things I’ll be finally adding a photography portfolio that will feature some of my better photos from the last eight years.

On the photo gallery side I’m planning of having all of the other updates for the site online by the end of the year.

October is upon us and the gallery has been open for a few months now and I’ve been very happy with how things have been going.

I found out last month that a photo of mine was selected to be December in the Shooting Portsmouth calendar project. It was quite the honor to be asked to contribute an entry and finding out that one of my photos was selected was awesome. More information on this will be coming as soon as I get it.

I’m toying around with some changes for the gallery, creating a business plan and trying to look at not only what the gallery is but what I want it to be in the future. A hearty thank you to those who’ve come by and browsed, dropped an email, and especially to those who have bought photos.

UPDATE | 10.4.07: One of the changes I was eluding to above has been done, gallery.cyclingplatypus.com has been renamed Chris Miller Studios and with that is another way to arrive here. In addition to using gallery.cyclingplatypus.com you can also use cmillerstudios.com, same great photos just a snazzy new name.

September 2007 (Update 2)

Alright, I’m pretty pleased with the results of the update and think that it will make browsing and buying a bit easier.

Here’s what I changed:
- Modified the main preview screen, no more add to cart button.

- Changed the large preview from a pop-up photo to a separate page with size and order information.

- Added new size of 11 x 14.

- I’ve been asked about the possibility of an affiliate type program, I’ve addressed this in the FAQs section.

I’m also running another special, buy two get one free. All you do is order the two prints and I’ll contact you and find out which one you’d like free (same size as order).

September 2007 (Update 1)

Hello everyone, well September is here and as I stated in August I will be adding some new photos and a little bit more. That’s right, over the next few days I’ll be uploading some new photos, tweaking things a bit, and even adding a new size.
