Lessons

If you are looking for some great advice along with a nice story, head on over and check out the guide that Platy put together to help people understand what it takes to be truly happy. I enjoyed the read, and have enjoyed the portions of this profound journey that I have had the pleasure of being a part of. This quote can easily fit in to his philosophy, which is why when I saw it today, it just struck a chord so deep for me.

We all have bad days. We all handle those days in different ways, and each of those experiences shapes us as individuals. I hope that in the midst of my next bad day that this quote will be right at the tip of my thoughts to help me get through it. And may it do the same for you.

Have a great weekend – I will enjoy mine, even though I am working…. :)

Laughing

Filed in Uncategorized

I love to laugh. I snort from time to time when I laugh, and though that should make me self-conscious, that feeling simply cannot overcome the delirium from a good laugh. I laugh a LOT when I am tired, I am a giddy tired person - most of the time. We laugh a lot here in our home - we are lucky like that.

I have found a website that just cracks me up… FAIL is by far one of the funniest places on the web. I could live without the FAIL being printed on everything that they have, but that is easily fixed if you find something you want to keep. About once a week is the perfect time to head over and check it out - just enough hilarity to tide you over for the next week, while giving you enough new material that you don’t feel as though you have wasted your time venturing over. Check it out. If you don’t find it funny, then don’t go back…. :)

TTFN,

Music….

So, a (sarcastically) sad day is approaching for me at work. My XM receiver
is dying. “XM?! You spoiled girl!” I am sure was your first thought, and
Yes, I am spoiled (though I like to call it privileged because spoiled
makes me think of those bratty girls who throw temper tantrums at the mall -
and THAT hasn’t been me in years!). But let me just say, that after a few
years of having the freedom to go from listening to the soundtracks of your
favorite flicks to listening in awe to what is going on on Broadway to old
skool hip hop on a whim - really grows on you. But my receiver is either
dying, or the spirit of a very energetic practical joker has taken over
controls, because here is a snippet of our day today:

XM apparently REALLY wants to tell me all about XM by tuning in to channel
1(XM Preview) - so I say “NO” very loudly and authoritatively and change it
to Cinemagic……

Which seems to make XM think that I am “off” today and should be tuned in to
90’s on 9 - another stern warning and I switch it up to Hitlist….

And on and on……ALL day…..with spurts of XM deciding “I don’t like this
song” and muting…..or powering down all together……

On the upside, I am finally well enough to be back at work
fighting with my receiver after 10 days stuck in bed, so no complaints here!

TTFN,

“I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty
of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs and ideas into my brain.
Life seems to go on without effort, when I am filled with music.”

Cartooning

I just wanted to take a quick moment to acknowledge a really cool event that I witnessed this week. In working with the Healthy Choices Kids Camp this week, the kids were able to participate in a cartooning class with a pretty famous cartoonist. Granted at 10, these kids didn’t understand the notoriety, but they had a blast learning some amazing things about cartooning and comic booking. I have since visited the gentleman’s website a few times, and when I ran across the perfect cartoon for Platy from earlier this month here and then one that went so well with my previous post here I just had to share. Well, that, and the fact that I had so much fun in the class, and thought it was so amazing to have him there with these great kids!
