Stick People

HC | April 10, 2010

I am a sticker person. Ask anybody – there are stickers on my walls, there are stickers on my phone….. Decorating on a temporary basis with the ability to change depending on my mood?! I’m in!

But I saw something on my way to work this morning, that was just too sad. The lady in front of me in her super-sized SUV (that she was alone in mind you), had one of those stickers with the stick family – Dad, Mom, three kids, the dog – you’ve seen ‘em. Well, this person had very obviously removed the adult male sticker from their ensemble, and that made me feel bad the entire time I was behind her. Whether the male was gone because of a break-up or something far more tragic, I think the $5 to buy a new set is well worth the investment. Even if you just think about the kids represented by those smaller stick people, and how many times they have to see that sticker set every day, or the times that their friends or acquaintances see it and begin to ask questions – it is really unfair. Buy another set and start over.

Just my $0.02.

Amazed

HC | March 5, 2010

Would you believe that this is a sink used only by adults? Grown women? I’d have my doubts too – if I didn’t work there! Don’t get me wrong – I’m no neat freak, but I AM constantly amazed that people can’t keep an area clean. if you don’t know how to dispense just enough soap for your hands after 25+ years, then at least have the decency to wipe up your mess. Sheesh.

Yoga “mat”

HC | February 9, 2010

Ok, so I look quite hilarious when wearing the whole get-up, but my new yoga gloves and socks will ensure that I never have to travel without a yoga mat again!

Heartbroken

HC | February 7, 2010

As I stood there, just one in a group of proud brethren saluting – many of
those salutes trembling, the first thing I wondered was “Am I the only one
quivering from emotion while suddenly impervious to the cold?”. Then, as we
stood there and I fought back those tears, I began to think of so many
different things – each thought making it harder to hold those tears back.
Death comes with a ton of questions for any family – but for a family who
has lost a military member, the questions must become overwhelming. My
heart broke with every question and situation that I imagined the family
having been presented with during the three weeks leading up to this day.

A loss like this hurts – even if you don’t know the person. It hurts as a
mother, as a wife, as a daughter, as a sister and as a friend – it makes my
heart ache for all of those directly affected.

Rest in Peace, Specialist Marc Decoteau. Your sacrifice will not be
forgotten.

freedom.”
